General biology

Commensal yeast of human mucosae and skin. Can form yeast and filamentous (hyphal) forms. Opportunistic pathogen in immunocompromised hosts. Forms biofilms on surfaces and devices. Adapts to diverse host niches rapidly. And environmental reservoir is primarily human associated. Reproduction is predominantly clonal with parasexuality.
